Adoption: The paperwork begins...

We finally decided an adoption agency in our state to provide our home study.  We are going through a national adoption agency for placement, but we need a local one to do our home study.  So, we are working with 2....the more the merrier, right?!

Anyway, our local agency sent us a 54 page packet of forms to fill out, along with a bill for $300 to begin the background checks.  We will still owe them $1,700 plus $105 per hour when they travel to our home for the home visit.  We have our first meeting with our social worker on Tuesday, December 6th, and need to have all 54 pages filled out BEFORE then! YIKES!  Luckily, I'm kind of a nerd, and I get a little bit of joy filling out forms, haha...sick, right!?

Meanwhile, Brad has been working on tshirt designs that deal with adoption, love, and being a parent.  We are going to put all the profits towards our adoption.  I have been researching adoption grants and loans...however, most of them require you to submit your completed home study first, which we are just getting started.

We also got a packet in the mail from our national agency that provides info about filling out our APQ (Adoption Planning Questionairre). The APQ is basically our adoption preferences and birth parent information.  They sent us 9 chapters (or packets) to print and read.  We are supposed to read the first 4 chapters before filling out the APQ - I'm finished, waiting on Brad.  Hopefully, we will get that started this weekend!

It feels good to get things going though!  I'm nervous, excited, scared..basically all the same feelings I had when I was pregnant!  It's cool to think that our baby might be growing already!  We're hoping baby comes at the end of the summer, when Willie is close to 2 years old.  But, we know God has a plan, and baby will be here when the time is right!  Although, I already can't stop thinking of baby names. :)
